The new me

 I don't generally write about books that I have read. I did not make a exception for Sapiens which was a amazing book. But I will make an exception for this book "Demons under the microscope" by  Thomas Hager.  The book starts slow. I bought it 2 years back and never got around to reading it until a viral infection forced me out of action.  I picked up this book on a whim and started reading. And no exaggeration when I say that I was not able to stop till I finished this book. The book is all about bacteria and the discovery of first antibiotics i.e sulfa. The book weaves an engrossing story moving between the 2 world wars and rise of Nazis. The main actors are the chemists and physicians and their tireless efforts in inventing the world's first anti biotic. It brings us a humbling realization that the medicine we use on our wounds or the anti-biotics that we take without a second thought has such a long and painful history.  I told my kid " I will explain why you need to wash your hand before eating" my tone was harsh and voice was loud/ My kid adamantly replied "I will explain you Pappa, you dont explain me " She took the word "explain" and used it like a punishment  

Time was when u got a cold , no one bothered , including you. U just popped some medicines , some liquor and all is well even with a flowing nose. Not any more. I coughed a few times and had a runny nose which is usual. But this time it was different , the wife got on the phone with pharmacy and ordered medicines. The list had  medicines like dolo, Vit C, Vit D, many other alphabets with vitamins prefixed, antigen test kit, N95 Masks, Dettol extra large, vicks, steam in haler. I lost interest  after inhaler. All in all a big bag of medicines. I was ordered into the spare bedroom and was given my clothes , utensil and was told to stay away from all parts of the house. Her enthusiasm was something really strange like putting me in quarantine is  divine justice and she seemed to be enjoying that. she had a " revenge is a dish best served in quarantine" face. Time is the greatest magician. It turns mountains to dust. It creates planets and then it blows them up. In short, anything is possible given time. Time is also the basis of the infinite monkey theorem. But really what is time. Its not something tangible , in the sense u cannot see it ,touch it, smell it or taste it or feel it. U can experience it , but only indirectly. If u stay in a bubble where nothing ever changes , nothing undergoes entropy, then effectively time has not passed in that bubble , its time proof. SO u see time is only a relative concept and can be experienced only basis change in your surroundings. It wouldn't  be wrong to say that we cannot observe all the changes in the world around us. But we want to attribute a point in which changes happened. For this we assume changes will happen and we keep a track by means of a measurement called time. so any event happening will be stamped with a time stamp. So time is not absolute its only relative. My financials future financials are all taken care of . I no longer have to work . I will do what I want to do. I will write . Such a short life so many things to learn The mountains live for aeons but can’t move the oceans too unmoving but the air moves everywhere it see everything it know everything every breath the first and the last . Want to be like the air to Move everywhere . I want to least see feel touch many many places on this earth Freedom to wander freedom not to is what I yearn

For want of a nail the shoe was lost. For want of a shoe the horse was lost. For want of a horse the rider was lost. For want of a rider the message was lost. And all for the want of a horseshoe  For wanting a nail a kingdom was lost , the truth of this proverb often is lost upon us . For its difficult for us to imagine a that a small and insignificant thing like a horse shoe can bring about the destruction of a empire But there’s more truth in those words than anything that’s ever spoken. One Who understands these lessons without actually having to learn  it the hard way indeed are wise one But too many of us learn it the hard way .
